Which laptop is better? The ASUS G73JW-XA1 Republic of Gamers or the Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q885? My interests are in entertainment, particularly gaming, and I am a student so things like Microsoft Office should also be able to run smoothly. My main interest, though, is a smooth gaming experience. Portability and battery life would also be nice, and the cheaper one is obviously a lot more desirable as long as not too much is sacrificed. I do not really care about the size of the hard drives, they are both big enough for my needs.

they both look cool, so looks don’t matter. Also, if you know of any other laptops under 1500 which are good for gaming, I would appreciate if you could tell me.

GTX 460M is significantly faster than GTS 2360M so ASUS G73 will perform better in games.
An alternative would be Sager NP8760

thanks. about how many years will it be until the toshiba's gaming capabilities get outdated and it can only run new games at medium settings??

oh yeah, and how would an ATI Radeon HD5850 compare to both of these graphics cards??

The 5850 would place itself in between the 360 and the 460, being a little closer to the 460's performance.

Out of the two you listed, the G73 is worth the money. You get a Quad Core, more RAM, a faster GPU and a higher resolution screen.

HD5850 should have GDDR5 ram then it is close to GTX460M in performance. But some laptop manufacturers may set GDDR3 for their HD5850 models. In this situation you cannot expect too much.

Of course G73 is a much better one for gaming.

If yer gonna be carrying it around with you from time to time just remember to alternate which arm is carrying it. You don't wanna look like a freak walking down the street with one arm abnormally more muscular than the other.
