I'm looking to get a new laptop for school. I have two different ones picked out and need some help.

From research I've done, the nVIDIA is slightly better. The ASUS also has a "better" network card, although I don't really know the improvement from a more expensive.. .The HP does have a "better" hard drive, should last longer, and is roughly $250 cheaper. So I suppose, I should be asking: Is the extra $250 worth the slight gain and brand? Don't say that it's my preference. >_> If it was, I wouldn't be asking you.
Also, in turns of battery life. Would the fact that the nVIDIA has that optimus thingy (being able to freely switch to and from integrated graphics, or so I've read), make the battery life rather close, or does the HP maybe have something similar? I'm just looking for some opinions. I appreciate all replies.
