I have two options. The 1st one has a better processor which is a i3 350M while the 2nd has the Turion II P520. I can't decide on which laptop to buy because I'll be using this for mostly gaming(low games such as combat arms. I can play it fine on a amd 64 and radeon 3200 but lag spikes sometimes). My friend has a computer with the intel x3100 and pentium dual core and runs combat arms with a 20 fps.(so I'm presuming the 1st laptop will run ca with 45 fps).

1st option: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i3+Processor+/+14%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive+-+Silver/9972848.p?id=1218202944334&skuId=9972848&st=9972848&cp=1&lp=1&ref=10&loc=01

2nd option: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Laptop+/+AMD+Turion%26%23153%3B+II+Processor+/+14.5%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+320GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black+Cherry/9963577.p?id=1218202471792&skuId=9963577

In the comparison here (second link is broken), from a gaming perspective, the Turion based system is likely to be the better solution because most AMD based laptops/notebooks use discrete GPUs.

I was able to dig out an HP system on the Best Buy site that was the likely system indicated by the original poster. If so, it had a HD 4200 GPU which will run circles around the Intel GPU on the i3 based system.

The advice, thus far, has been to pick GPU over CPU. I agree as well. Given these 2 choices, I would definitely go with the Turion II system because of the much stronger GPU.

i3 wins easy over a turion ! but as said ^^ , get the bewst graphic card and the second link is dead so I can't tell you which ones the best. turion sucks unless it packs a good graphic card

Oh alright thanks for advice people. There has been about 75% more positive reviews on the laptops like the hp pavillion one then the gateway one. It' s just that there ' s random posts saying the gateway gets a constant 80 fps in call of duty/combat arms and the benchmark of the i3 on cpubenchmark.net is 400 more than the turion one. I guess I'm leaning towards the hp pavillion.
