Hi guys,

I want to buy a beast Core i7. I've 2 in consideration. Please tell me which 1 you recommend. In Option B, I see the only difference is 24GB SSD, which I don't feel is much space, but plese try to convince me if I should get Option B & why).

Option A).
HP Envy 15-J039TX Core i7 4700MQ-2.4GHZ
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
15.6" LED
Win 8
NVIDIA 2GB GRAPHIC-
CAM-FP-
6 CELL BATTERY

Option B).
HP Envy 15-J138TX Core i7 4700MQ-2.4GHZ
8GB RAM
1TB HDD & 24GB SSD DRIVE
15.6" LED
Win 8
2GB GRAPHIC-
CAM-FP-
6 CELL BATTERY

Thanks.

OK, I've to find it on the box if I can find it. By the way, I've 2 relevant questions.

1). How much performance difference I'll experience if I get 1300Mhz instead of 1600Mhz Corsaid Vengeance?

2). In case my model of laptop don't support 1600Mhz, can I still use 1600Mhz Rams on it? And will it downclock it to 1333Mhz? If so, will I experience any performance lack if it downclocks?
I read something here. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1832809/1600mhz-ram-supported-1333mhz-motherboard.html

Thanks.

Hi dustinhunt78, are you still there? Waiting for your response. Thanks.

Check this out. I ran some online scans on my Ram. The scan recommended a 2 X 4GB 1333 Rams, but if you click on "View All Compatible Memory", you'll see the list also include 2 X 4 GB 1666 Rams. Pls copy paste link in browser, somehow it was breaking the url here.

Your comments?

Hi and sorry for the long response. I haven't been online in a couple of days.

I have looked and looked for RAM frequency specs, but I cannot find them anywhere! They aren't even on the HP site for this model. My advice would be to go with 1333Mhz RAM. Given the rest of the specs of the computer, I couldn't see it being faster than that. Even if your maximum frequency for your computer isn't as high as 1333Mhz, it will be fine. The system will simply use the highest frequency that it can. By going with 1333Mhz RAM, you are pretty much guaranteed to have the best performance that is possible from your machine.

Hope this helps! :)

OK Thanks. In your absence, I have been thinking more & more about the new laptop lol, with 1TB + 24GB SSD & I think I'll go for a purchase by this weekend. :)

Oh I've another stupid question lol, please have a look

And I've to admit, SSD really sounds a great deal, thanks for the detailed explanations on it.

(I've another relevant question. The Specs of that new laptop shows 1 TB + 24 GB SSD, but how we will know if its that Cached Hybrid setup we're talking about? And its not a separate 24GB SSD & a separate 1 TB Hard drive?)

Hi,

Just reading some reviews about HP Envy 15 series laptops on Amazon. People say overall HP Envy is a great laptop, but I read a lot of some bad comments about its TouchPad. A lot of people mentioned its Touchpad is horrible & probably the only bad thing in the laptop.

Do you agree or disagree?

And if the Touchpad is really bad, should I skip this laptop & consider something else? I'm an HP Fan & I can't buy another brand like Sony/Dell/Asus etc. And not to mention, HP Envy series is the only one I could find with these high specs in my country, other brands I found here offer that regular dual core Core i7 laptops, which I don't want to get.

Thanks.

Bad reviews on the touchpad would not concern me in the least. This is because I never use the touchpad. I hate touchpads in general, and always simply use a USB mouse instead. If you game AT ALL, you will want to go this route as well. I don't know how much that you would want to spend on a good mouse, but for less than 20 US dollars, you can get a very good, very capable mouse. Here are a few listed on Amazon. I have also enclosed a link that addresses shipping to Pakistan. :)

First, the link describing Amazon.com and their policy on shipping to Pakistan:

And now, the mice that I feel would work well for you:

(This one is 27.00 US dollars, but is wireless. :) )

(This one is on 8 dollars and has a perfect 5-star rating. It is also designed specifically for use with laptops!)

Hi, Thanks. I bought it yesterday & Touchpad is good. My only issue in touchpad side is, the right/left click buttons are a bit hard & use a couple of calories everytime I push them lol.

OK, now the main problem I'm writing you again. I'm trying to make partitions using the Win 8.1 Disk Management tool, But I can't shrink C drive below 455GB. It says this is the point it can't go below since there are unmovable files on the drive. So far research I've done, I noticed 3rd party disk partition tools can help with it, but some dude said that 3rd party Disk partition tools can possibly mess up with my Recovery Partition, reseting it.

Please read further below & help me out with it.

Hi Dustin,

Hope you're great. in case you forgot, here are my spcs.

Ci7 4700MQ,
1TB Hard Drive + 24GB SSD
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram
2GB Dedicated Graphics card 740M
Windows 8.1 64bit

OK, the new laptop is great so far after about 3 weeks of use. However now I'm starting to feel it heats up a bit, I mean not too much, but definitely now its hotter than what it used to be right out of the box. (I remember it used to be cool even after 6 hours or non-stop use). Now it gets hot even after couple of hours of use. And its as hot as my old HP G6 Pavilion used to be.

Its new so no dust has clogged the vents. I use it on a hardwood table, so vents are not blocked. Fan is not running like crazy bcoz I'm not running too much apps. CPU usage is about 5% and Ram usage is about 60% and system seems to be running smoothly. And even the "Hp Cool Sense" is ON. Then I don't understand why its getting hot? I've read some threads on internet saying, YES HP Envy DO have this heating problem, which HP considers is normal. What you think?

Thanks.
