Hello, I am stuck between these two laptops:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834321437
and
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-gl502vt-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i7-12gb-1tb-hard-drive-black-anodized-aluminum-black-painted-plastic-/5090905.p?id=bb5090905&skuId=5090905
I think that the ideapad is the better deal BUT the ASUS has the GTX 970m (though the ideapad has 1 more gig of VRAM) . However, I just would like to know that if it's worth it to sacrifice the advantages of the ideapad over the graphics card. Appreciate any help and suggestions

You get far more value for your dollar in the Lenovo machine, a ssd, and a harddrive. Plus more Ram, the 970m if its the 3gb version is not that much more powerful than the 960m. Only about 10-15% if it was the 6gb it would be a lot more powerful.

I would say that while the Asus would last longer gaming wise its just not a very good deal and not really that great of a build quality.

So it's not worth it to invest more on the Asus machine then?

Here is why that msi sucks. Really poor build quality, can't upgrade without voiding warranty. And the worst cooling system in a gaming laptop. Unless you spend a ton of cash you will not get a good msi laptop.

And to top it off USB Type C is a dead format nobody liked it it offered nothing new and it didn't catch any market share. Good old regular usb will forever be the way to go.

Well, that MSI does not seem too attractive nor does it portray anything that could beat either of the two laptops that I was considering. However, if there are any suggestions that are on par and are around the same price I'd be more than happy to look into them.

I had a lenovo laptop like that for a while, but i returned it because it had a hardware defect but it was best buys fault. The feel of the machine is amazing, its light and very well laid out. I like the screens they are very vibrant.

Well, I had the 14 inch version of the Lenovo. However, I didn't like it both personally and spec wise. Yeah, I know the 14 inch has less buffed specs. But the screen (which is supposed to be the same for both) looked worse than my 6 year old laptop (which is Lenovo, I really like the brand). And the speakers, that are supposed to JBL, didn't sound as good as they were supposed to. Besides it crashing on me (which is the main reason I returned it). So I really am not sure on it

The only downside i found to the lenovo if i had kept it and all was working was the battery is shit. You can get 3-4 hours on half brightness and battery is a pain to replace if it goes out kinda had me worried i had a ticking lemon.

Obsolete, has a haswell cpu which is now vastly outdated in laptops. Plus no DDR4 ram support and DDR3 is getting hard as [watch your language] to find. Especially 2x8gb kits.
