If in USA, this is really what your minimum is if you want something capabile of doing the job, it is outside your budget but anything bellow an HQ cpu is going to struggle with photoshop/lightroom and everything else cpu intesive you will be throwing at it:

You need an i7 6700HQ or 7700HQ, bare minimum 8GB ram with 16gb prefered, a GTX 950 or better GPU, and preferably an SSD drive
I can not find an x55d, only an x55vd which is a 4 year old model of laptop.

For graphic design you want a laptop with an intel i7 ___HQ processor.
There is a big difference between the ones ending in a U and the one ending in HQ. The U model is the battery efficent and the best cpu is just a 2 core 4 thread with turbo into the low 2 ghz range. HQ is a 4 core 8 thread (for the i7 model) with turbo at 2.8-3.2ghz (depending on model).

I cant really give you a recommendation on a specific model with no knowledge of what country you are in or what vendors I have to look at.

first off the x55d I don't think exists. I can only find an x55a and an x55vd and neither option is good as they sport pentium dual core chips and nvidia 6 series graphics. out of those two options you would want the K401UQ because it has an i5 cpu and 9 series nvidia graphics. much much better.
and for a recommendation based on your budget I give you these two lists to get you started.
