Hi guys, I am on a dilemma. After a huge research to find out the best budget/performance laptop (and of course one that I can afford), I ended up between these two models. Basically the main difference are the cpu and the video card.

I know GTX980m have more memory and performs slightly better than the GTX1050ti 4GB but I've only see tests with a 980m and i7, but since that GX980m is paired with a i5, I have some doubts:

- Will the GTX980m bottleneck with the i5 skylake ?
- The GTX1050ti and i7 kabylake are newer technologies, pairing both will get better results than an old architecture ?
- Which of these pairs performs better ?

The dollar difference is just of $100

The 980m is the better gpu, it performs at the level of a GTX 1060. The i7-7700hq is a substantialy better CPU though. However the 6300hq is fine and will not bottle neck. So if you want better fps in gaming go for the one with the 980m. If you however want better processing power, buy the one with the 7700hq.

I use DELL Latitude E5470 (i5-6300HQ 24GB RAM) at work and HP OMEN 17" UHD i7-7700HQ 16GB RAM at home.

It's not comparable. i7-7700HQ is way way way way faster than i5-6300HQ. If the difference is only $100, get i7-7700HQ.
