I am currently looking to start using a VPN in order to increase my privacy, and I have been researching various VPN providers for a number of weeks.

Initially i had intended to proceed with Nord VPN, but have since decided that I don't want to use a VPN unless it is clear who owns and operates it. My concern is that I can't trust a VPN provider if I don't know who owns it and how they may use any data (even if they claim to have a no log policy).

From my research the VPN providers I have identified that have publicly visible ownership are:
  • TunnelBear
  • IPVanish
  • CyberGhost
  • Proton VPN
Are there any major providers that I have missed and should be considering?

From my research so far it appears that Proton VPN may be the best option from a privacy point of view. Would people agree with that?
