White screen on sony vaio laptop

Hello,
My roommate has a Sony various laptop, a vpcEE37FX. It started getting a white screen. Now when we turn it on its always a whlte screen. It was hooked up to a external monitor once but didn't work, but I'm going to try today. However if it does not work is it fixable?

No. The white screen is on the laptops screen. I'm going to check the external now

Update: we plugged it in (it has not been used in awhile) and at first it was just the white screen, then it turned on. I never got it hooked up to the. External monitor but last time it showed a white screen on the external monitor. Can I run any diagnostics?

Potentially damaged onboard graphics. If that is the case, I am sorry, that laptop needs to get recycled.
