Why cant i get a signal when i plug in my laptop to my hdtv using a hdmi cord

i have connected my laptop to my hmtv before and it worked but now it shows no signal why is this

Try pressing the Function (Fn) key + the appropriate F-key on you laptop to change the display output options. The picture on the key will look like a monitor (usually).
