Why can't my bright house cable remote control both my Samsung smart tv, and my Samsung sound bar?

My Samsung smart tv seems to have 2-3 hdmi ports, but no arc like people have talked about. So my Samsung sound bar has to be connected with the optical cable. The annoying problem is, I have to use use 2 remotes to watch tv?

Have you followed all of the steps necessary to setup your sound bar for use with your Samsung TV?

A few bullet points from the full instructions:

The TV speakers must be disabled and the TV configured to use external speakers.

Anynet must be enabled on your sound bar.

And if any of that doesn't work, just go pick up a Logitech Harmony remote. Its what I did to get my Panny Plasma to work with my Samsung sound bad. You can bundle it all nice and simple.
