why does an amber light flash when i take a pic instead of the flash

i have a samsung wb100 red camera and it wont flash only an amber light flashes. any help would be great

I believe your amber light is a AF assist light. It throws a little extra light so that your camera has an easier time focusing. You can through your settings to enable the flash or turn off the AF assist.

i tryed that and still no flash. how could i tell if my flash is broke?

Try re-setting your camera or turn it to auto mode. Then take a photo in a darkened room.

Set the camera to auto.

He never set the camera to auto, only the flash. So if the camera is set to manual the flash likely won't fire.
