Why does Snapchat perform poorly on android?

Snapchat performs well on my small quad-cored Sony Xperia SP with 1 GB of RAM, but it lags a lot on my octa-cored HTC Desire 826 with 2 GB RAM. Is there any way I can make it run smoothly? Am I the only one facing this problem?

There might be an issue with installation. Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling the app? May be you don't have the updated one!

I recently installed a new one from the store. Same issues.
