Why my sd card never playes videos taken from phone storage

Why when i put a movie on my sd card from phone storage it doesn't play

Depends on where the video came from. Is it one you got from say Netflix or another service? If that is the case, they don't allow for them to be moved and played from anywhere other than the phones internal storage.
