Why won't laptop clone its screen

I have my windows laptop hooked up to my tv and the clone screen works fine with the hdmi cable for my playstation but when I try to clone the screen with my new longer cable no picture comes up the tv tells me that the cable has connected by telling me the aspect ratio but no picture. The new cable works on my playstation fine but not on my laptop. Any ideas?

HDMI can be very tricky. The specifications are often off in either the source, cable, or display and it is the combination that is important. It sounds like you should try a different long HDMI cable. The fact that is works with the playstation doesn't mean it has to work with the PC.
