Why won't my laptop turn on?

I shut down my hp laptop last night and now it won't turn on. I've followed various other ways to turn it on like removing the battery pack and waiting and plugging in the ac adapter but nothing seems to work. I also need this for work tomorrow can somone please help?

Is it completely dead - - no response at all when you press the power button?
If yes, it's a repair shop job I'm afraid, might even have to go back to the manufacturer (but only take that route if it's still covered by their warranty otherwise the cost will be nearly as much as a new laptop).

Yeah, there's no response, the only thing happening is the charger light that comes on when I plug in the adapter. I'll probably take it in and get it fixed if I don't find a solution to the problem, thank you for your reply.
