Wifi issues, HP Pavillion dv6

I have a friend with a HP Pavillion dv6 and he can only connect to his wifi if he's in the same room as the modem. Other laptops can connect to the wifi from any room in the house so I'm pretty sure the problem is the laptop. Can you guys help out??

tell him to update his drivers for wireless card

if that doesn't help he might have to invest in a usb wifi card with better characteristics

I have a dv6 and my wi-fi works pretty well so he might have a hardware issue if the updated drivers do not resolve the issue.

i'd second that^. sounds like a hardware issue. he might have to buy a usb wifi card.
