[citation][nom]amordegrim[/nom]Wow, im going to answer this with with the simple idea, that you are stuck, misinformed and probably watch the military channel and fox new all day. There is no such thing as a hippie, you are foolish in thinking there is meaning in the constitution. You place all your value in paper don't you? Like the paper you pay with, the paper that even says your allowed to be here, the paper thats says what your "allowed" to do, the paper or the lack there of that puts people in the streets, or the paper used in hiring hit men. All in all WAKE UP its only as valuable as the people believe it is. I ask to you to Believe in something greater, like the actually PEOPLE. Guess what boarders, religion and all that segregates us, is not written in every one of our minds. But written on paper. In truth its all ridiculous, you think if everyone knew what would happen on the nazi side , or any group for that matter. Its FREEDOM OF CHOICE, we all have it. but we lose it when the time comes for us to fight for our flags. If The choices were made by the people, not by the Gods/ masters/ "Leaders". You would understand the love in everyone of us and our ability to CREATE, our environment. But in society not one of us is "allowed" able or even know where to start when it comes to making decisions.[/citation]
Oh boy, I have one fine, broad word to describe you.

"Anarchist"

Good luck with that one pal. obviously you never took Civics class, because you'll soon find out in every "civilized" civilization (OMG look at that, the word civil in civilization. I guess thats why we call ourselves a civilization, huh?) that there must be a "leader" to take ultimate responsibility and help govern the people for a common, protective good. Seriously, did you FAIL civics? or did you just not take it all together. I'm very curious now, because of the huge statement you just provided me with there. Now I believe TRUE democracy (no not the democratic party) is a good idealogy of government, but it still is not complete without some sort of republicanism. Now perhaps I didn't pay very good attention in civics class, but I do believe that our government has implemented both of those aspects to FORM our government over the course of hundreds of years. And I also do believe that we have successfully stuck with the same form of government longer than any other civilization has managed to make it through. So maybe I have a little faith for my country? I dont know. maybe I'm talking out of my ass right now. But either way, its obvious you don't want to be in America, so how about you go find some abandoned island with all your anarchist buddies and start a revolution. Sorry to say this, but the Utopia you believe in doesn't exist.

I can't wait to read these documents in my free time. See what they actually consist of before pointing fingers and shouting "WITCH!!!".

From what I hear the documents have made most americans butthurt. Bravo. One nation under fire.

[citation][nom]morcrist[/nom]I'm having a hard time understanding how Tom's Hardware is hosting this article in good conscience. Would it be ok for Tom's to write/link an article asking for the "community's" support in mirroring child porn sites? Then why is it ok for Tom's to write/link an article asking for help mirroring leaked government documents which is going to put a lot of US soldiers/citizens' lives in danger?I'm just your average every day casual reader here at Tom's, and withdrawing my patronage isn't going to amount to a whole lot. But again, responsible journalism and passively supporting treason...I think there's a difference.I hope that Tom's will see fit to retract this article and offer an apology. If not the latter then certainly the former!Waiting to see what happens....[/citation]

Child porn sites are not the same as leaking government documents. Do not compare the two ever again, that's an order.

Releasing some information is good, but releasing "strategic sites" that could jeopardize civilian lives is irresponsible.

I also think some things should be left secret. Some of these leaks could put our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, etc. in harms way.

It's a complete mess no matter how you look at it from all sides.

From Chickendude: But either way, its obvious you don't want to be in America

Not wanting to be in america, is not synonymous with wanting your government to be more honest with its people and the world.

BTW in regards to Wikileaks policy "We do not censor our news, but from time to time we may remove or significantly delay the publication of some identifying details from original documents to protect life and limb of innocent people." http://www.wikileaks.ch/about.html section 1.2 paragraph 2.

I am not for anybody getting killed over the wiki leaks info, unless it's for warcrimes, then they probably deserved it. But some dirty politicians will probably get shamed over this.

So seriously, provide some links from Cablegate that contradict the official policy.

[citation][nom]reprotected[/nom]No one will be hating on Wikileaks if they were only leaking information about Iran, China, India, North Korea, Cuba, and all of US' enemies.[/citation]

India as US enemy? I as an Indian citizen would beg to differ.

It find it striking how a country could condemn the human rights in in other countries, denouncing the murder of a journalist (Alexander Litvinenko) the suppression of freedom of speech (in China, Burma, Iran etc etc etc) and then one of its leading politicians (Sarah Palin) open and actively asks for her own countries special forces to hunt down and murder a foreign national journalist, the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

If this guy was giving away secret, Russian, Chinese or Iranian cables he would be welcomed into the "Good old US of A" as a hero.

The so called land of the free is nothing more than any other government, controlling, manipulating, dirty, corrupt and basically stinks. This does not mean I have this impression of the American people, just its (and nearly every other) government.

The true facts are yet to come out, The west was dragged into a war in Afghanistan and Iraq, on the basis of global terror, on the threat of WMD's, how the west would soon crumble if something wasn't done. Well there was NO terror network in Iraq, there were NO WMD's, in fact the only thing there was was OIL, and low and behold, Bush's and Channey's companies got the rights to those oilfields.

Wikileaks have warned that if they continue to be persecuted they have another leak that they describe as a "nuclear bomb" SO SHOCKING IN ITS INFORMATION, they haven't released this information yet, and this information is what the American government is so worried about, not what is in these cables, all diplomats whatever country they come from do the same, with honest and open messages back home. This shocking revelation is going to come out soon and all of America will be crying, Why? Well because the information he has proves that the US government WAS the ones that were responsible for 9/11. So tell me who are the real terrorists?

All of this "put lives at risk" is crap. Why? Your government was aware of this leak long time ago, long enough to take necessery precution actions.
At end, when your government go over other nations, spy, trick and blackmailed them - it's ok, you got sense of security, you got big contract wins for your companies etc. So now, when all of this foreign (to you) people know what are you realy doing - it's terorism. yada yada ya. You should be concerned, but because of yours actions and not for your life. Nobody wants anything bad to americans (me included), but you can create more enemies if you continue to act like this what was published on wikileaks.

I think that is wishful thinking, but i think the same way about 911 - inside job. Only time will tell, and i hope i get to live that time.

One thing i am happy with, the truth finally getting in the heads of most people: USA is just another greedy, warmongering, backstabbing, creator of terror and economical slavery in this world. First thing that has to be nuked out of this world is that place where all the Fucking PROPAGANDA is made at so professionally standards : HOLLYWOOD !

What on earth is causing all the WikiLeaks-hate?

If the US and its allies are truly democratic, they have nothing to fear of the truth. In a real democracy, the government would not keep anything secret, save for computer and nuclear security perhaps.

Since very few governments take their responsibility, it's the task of citizens to check upon their government and expose every piece filth they stumble upon. Freedom of information, remember?

The only thing I regret is that WikiLeaks didn't hide the names and identity of certain civilians, as they are the only innocent ones in those reports.

Worse still, democracies that keep touting how open and free they are, are amongst the first to close down such websites. Isn't that exactly what China and Iran do?

WikiLeaks didn't kill a single American or European. The shady alliance of government, big enterprises and foreign allies is the culprit. WikiLeaks didn't ask for a war against Iraq, the energy utilities and misguided NeoCons did.

A couple tings guys,
I ask you to find some information in the cablegates that puts US troops in direct risk. I dont know about you but I have been reading them and So far I have seen nothing of such.

Second If a man and his friends can get hold of this kind of information think of what the taliban and all its drug money can find.

They are not terrorists simply journalists publishing what the citizens have a right to know. As in principle a Democracies government is only supposed to be made up of normal citizens, and not be placed above everyone else, as in the us and other countries it has become. There is only such a huge noise because some politicians dont like you hearing what they really think. They are embarressed and they want to silence wikileaks for it.

Once again, there have been no reports of wikileaks leaks ever harming troops and citizens before and I doubt there ever will be because all names and facts that could possibly be armful are removed before the cables are posted. So take that into account. \

And stop flaming.

[citation][nom]chickenhoagie[/nom]I'm sorry change for the better or for the worse? what exactly is thet point of showing the entire world "how to kill our troops?" Umm excuse me, do you know what patriotism means? do you have any sibling or family member in the army? how would you feel if they died? died fighting in Iran. better yet, dieing to kill the future hitler bastard that is going to line us up and kill us all 50 years from now in the next world war. Stop living in your fantasy world buddy. Truth is, war is unavoidable, and if you want to stay alive, you won't help dumbasses like Kim Jung-il..[/citation]
I am starting to get sick from people like you hiding everything wrong behind shield of patriotism. One thing is to be supportive to your country and totally different to agree with them when they cross a line and after that try to hide it by any means necessary.
To turn question back to you. How would you feel if your own family was killed on order from another country government in attempt to kill some terrorist ?

[citation][nom]chickenhoagie[/nom]... without conceiving or spreading their conformity[/citation]

You, along with the blind sheeple are the ones guilty of conformity. You have spit in the face of everything this Republic was founded on. The original founding fathers warned time and time again of not letting the government rule our lives but you, like the good little citizen you have been raised to be, conforms to their every whim.

We need Julian Assange and a thousand more people willing to make that stand. This world is circling the drain and you, as an obedient follower, have your hand on the handle flushing like crazy.

America is not some God fearing nation that does what is right for its constituents. You have been drinking too much of the Kool-Aid if you believe that. We the People lost control of this country ALONG time ago.

Fear suppresses your ability to actually see what is happening to this world and I do not hold that against you. I do not hate you for it and I have no anger against you or anyone like you. It's your opinion and your right. One of the last that we have in this country for now.

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." - Patrick Henry

"Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence. It is force. And force, like fire, is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." George Washington

"... God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
- Thomas Jefferson

"At the establishment of our constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions, nevertheless, become law by precedent, sapping, by little and little, the foundations of the constitution, and working its change by construction, before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life, if secured against all liability to account." - Thomas Jefferson 1823
