Will low clock speed in ultrabook be suitable for heavy performance?

Hello,
i am planning to buy a laptop. But since i have to carry it daily to college i decided to go with a lightweight ultrabook. I saw many of them but all sport a processor with a very low clock speed. I shortlisted one from samsung having amd a8 1.6ghz CPU and other lenovo having i3 1.8ghz processor.

I use heavy applications like photoshop, netbeans, autoCAD,video editing, casual games, etc. MY CONCERN IS THAT WILL THESE LOW SPEED CPU RUN ALL THE ABOVE APPS SMOOTHLY?? Also i plan to use the laptop for long term, so will that not become out dated quickly?

I doubt you will be happy with those apps on an ultra book, not just because the cpu but the gpu limitations aswell.

Both of them have a dedicated 1 gb graphic card.
samsung has amd HD 7550M and lenovo has NVIDIA G610M.

Just because they are dedicated doesnt mean they are good. the 610m for example is is about as fast as Intels HD 4000 and all 3 are not going to games well and cad will run horrible slow.

So is it better to switch to a non ultrabook for better clock speed CPU and GPU, compromising with the weight of laptop??

You are better off buying a regular laptop instead of an ultrabook. The nVidia GT 610m is crap. On average, the Intel HD 4000 is more powerful that it.

What games do you want to play? What resolution? What graphic settings? How many frames per second? How much money do you want to spend?
