Um... Why the older, furnace-like cards? Those are much worse than most of the current cards no matter how you slice the issue.

As for recording gameplay needing i7, it seriously depends on what games. Most AAA titles today will need more than 4 threads for recording, but the game you have doesn't even look like an AAA title or anything with known benchmarks. You'll be fine recording off that other laptop.

Are there any I7s out there with a similar price to this one (800$)? Also it would have to have ATI Radeon HD 6950 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX570 with 2GB VRAM as these are the recommended graphics cards for Hearts of Iron IV.

what about this? It has a GTX 960M, but is that as good as Geforce GTX 570 or Radeon HD 6950?
