I was looking at this for a budget laptop to use for surfing, photoshop, Facebook, web based games...

Thoughts? I've been out of the game for so long, not sure how comparable processors are any more.

1. What is your budget? Under $400

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 15 inch

3. What screen resolution do you want? Not a priority

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Either

5. How much battery life do you need? Decent but have a plugin near me at all times.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? I dabble with android emulation but basic phone games like Wwe champions is the only thing I play now.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) photoshop the real program not just photo editing.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 500 gb min.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? A couple of years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? DVD writer would be nice, not mandatory

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. N/a

13. What country do you live in? US

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. I use my current laptop for surfing, photoshop, Facebook, web based games...

For what you want to do (and given the budget), it should be ok. Overall, the performance of the A12-9600 should be between that of a modern dual core Core i3 and Core i5 CPUs; depending on what benchmarks you run. I do not use Photoshop, not even for editing, so I do not know what performance you will get.

For playing games, it should be fine. The Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge) graphic core should generally be about equal to the nVidia 930m which means it is better than the Intel HD 620 graphics core that is in Intel's current 7th generation Core series CPUs.
