Will this rooting method work? Or brick my phone? :P

Ok, so, i've been wanting to do quite a bit of stuff on my Huawei Mytouch Q Android 2.3 smartphone that requires root (screen recording, link2sd, etc), and i've finally decided to do it. Now, i looked around for tutorials, and the simplest one i could find was this one. Now, my question to you awesome tech guys is: Does this have any chance, if I follow the tutorial down to the letter, to brick/break/wreck/destroy or render my phone dead/useless?
Also, do you know of any other, better tutorials?

I don't have the same phone but the process looks similar to the ones I've done. The comments look fairly promising as well.
