Will this work for recording my PS3?

I have a PS3 Slim, not the newest one but the regular slim. I'm looking to record games on it, and I know I could use a hauppage HD PVR or a similar kind of thing, but I don't need HD and I want to spend no more than $50.

This is what I'm thinking about getting, and I've never done something like this so I have a few questions about how and if it will work. Also, I'd be connecting it to my computer to render on later so I don't need any kind of uploading features.

First of all, I'd like to know if it's possible to work with my PS3 and TV. Right now my PS3 is connected to my TV with HDMI (it's a 1080p TV), and so is my cable box (so both HDMI's are in use right now) but I can disconnect that if necessary. Would I have to actually connect my PS3 to my TV with component cables for it to work (I don't think PS3 has component output does it?), or is the only thing that needs to be connected with component cables the USB recorder? And is this USB recorder supposed to be connected to my TV or my PS3?

There's a link it's called the 'Hauppauge USB-Live-2 Video Capture' and apparently it's an older version of the HD PVR from Hauppage. Here's the newegg page

The problem is, that device has way to output what your seeing. The PS3 can't output composite and hdmi at the same, so you will plug the video from the PS3 into that device and have to watch yourself play on the PC, if the software it comes with allows you to view in realtime whats being captured. And it doesn't even record sound, so then you have take sound into your sound card, capture that too. Not really a good solution

the best way if you want to spend the money is get an hdmi capture card. you can plug the ps3 into the card, record, it gives you can output, that goes to your TV, sound is carried all the way through, etc. Just costs more than $50.
