I have a PS3 Slim, not the newest one but the regular slim. I'm looking to record games on it, and I know I could use a hauppage HD PVR or a similar kind of thing, but I don't need HD and I want to spend no more than $50.
This is what I'm thinking about getting, and I've never done something like this so I have a few questions about how and if it will work. Also, I'd be connecting it to my computer to render on later so I don't need any kind of uploading features.
First of all, I'd like to know if it's possible to work with my PS3 and TV. Right now my PS3 is connected to my TV with HDMI (it's a 1080p TV), and so is my cable box (so both HDMI's are in use right now) but I can disconnect that if necessary. Would I have to actually connect my PS3 to my TV with component cables for it to work (I don't think PS3 has component output does it?), or is the only thing that needs to be connected with component cables the USB recorder? And is this USB recorder supposed to be connected to my TV or my PS3?
Here are the specifications for my TV
Input/Output connections
2 x HDMI (19 pin HDMI Type A) - Rear,
1 x Component video input (RCA phono x 3) - Rear,
3 x Audio line-in (RCA phono x 2) - Rear,
1 x Composite video input (RCA phono),
1 x VGA input (15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)) - Rear,
1 x Digital audio output (optical) (TOSLINK) - Rear,
1 x Audio line-out (RCA phono x 2) - Rear,
1 x Audio line-in (Mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm) - Rear,
1 x USB (4 pin USB Type A) - Side
Video interface
HDMI,
Component,
Composite
Thanks in advance, this is really confusing me
