I´m tired whit this company , what they really want I know , profit , of course , but they´re abusing the consumers patience.I´m a dummie in this PC things , that´s why I´m always boring you guys , but Microsoft keep " imposing" us a "new" Windos and a new Office from 6 to 6 months. Are them kidding? What was(WAS) Win 8? A Childrem OS ?
I always heard about the security issue , don´t know if is true , I can judge. But if is about security why Microsoft keep sending security updates to me if I use ( and will keep until possible) Win 7?
And in US don´t have the taxes brazilians pay , this is a problem of my country , governement taxes products that we dont produce!!! So 90% of the consumers go to that scum pirates( we call pirates the guys who sell false things) and this thash money go to drus , ilicity guns , etc!!!
Hope that in 10 years Umbutu takes Microsoft market.!!!!

Sorry , bad english.

Are you being expected to move to a new OS? If you're either not a gamer, or have confidence in "adapters" like WINE, try Linux Mint. You can get good applications (e.g. LibreOffice, Firefox, and Thunderbird) for it with no up-front costs, and support costs should be no higher than for comparable Windows applications.

The naming has me in a delema.

Every other Windows version has been blah. 2000 good, Millenium bad, XP good, Vista bad, 7 good, 8 bad, now there is no 9 to be good, which means 10 will be bad from the start.

"that doesn't crash nearly as often when compared to Linux/Unix"
please dont troll. All computer users know that Linux is less useful than windows. Over the years we have tried hundreds of distros, on hundreds of platforms, for hundreds of users. And at the end of the day, its back to windows, as work has to be done.
Spending weeks messing with the Os is fun and some poeple love it. The rest of us actually need to get jobs done - for which linux fails the most. you know this to be true.

I'm not sure if Microsoft actually "learned" their lesson. With Vista, Microsoft tried to force-feed customers, OEMs, etc, and got burned, while they listened to feedback for Windows 7. They force-fed everyone with Windows 8 and now they're listening with 10. I'm wondering if they're going to force-feed again with whatever OS comes after 10...

Win 8 has stopped me from upgrading our PC and three family laptops. JUST THAT. It sucks, I hate it and I am not alone.

It seems to me that Microsoft thought it had consumers and business users when in fact most PC users want the same computer at home they use at work. It's just that simple. So if they had Windows 8.1 at home and Windows 7 at work it was confusing to use both types of UI. If business had adopted Windows 8.1 then it might have been more successful.

Microsoft should realize it can't separate business users from consumer users as too often they are both the same individual. Just as Apple knows that business doesn't use OS X Microsoft should also know it's users. It may be that Apple might introduce a business iPad with a iPad Pro. I hope Apple does a better job making a business/home tablet. They certainly have Microsoft for going first in this area if they learn from Microsoft's mistakes.

I hope this article is right and Windows 10 is the answer to Windows 8.1 unpopular UI. As a Apple user who bought a Surface Pro 2 because it ran apps and programs I was hoping for Microsoft to succeed in this space.
