Windows showing charger is turning on and off. Dead laptop won't turn back on.

I have an MSI 2qe dominator pro laptop. Every now and then the charger (while plugged in) will appear to disconnect and reconnect about 10-20 times and then charge normally. This hasn't really bothered me up until the charger stopped charging the laptop and the laptop died. Then I tried to power on the laptop but this did not work for several minutes until the charger decided it wanted to charge again (I knew it was working when the charging light came on). This has happened once or twice until now where my laptop is dead (charger stopped charging) but the charger is not kicking in. Every 30 minutes or so I see the charging light indicator flash on my laptop a few times but the charger will not kick in like it previously has. Please could someone give me an idea as to what might be the issue here?

I reseated the ram and unplugged/plugged in the psu cables. Voila the laptop is alive! Seems like there was a loose connection...
