No harm in having both installed. Very, very similar, and both very small.
Probably a coin toss as to 'better'.

Does 7zip do everything winrar does? Considering it's free unlike winrar.

Interesting. I've never known WinRAR to be pay software.

If so, 7z will do the trick.

Tom's Hardware did a comparison a while ago between 7zip, WinRar and some others. You can find it here:
http/www.tomshardware.com/reviews/winrar-winzip-7-zip-magicrar,3436.html and 7zip was the clear winner in performance. As it's Free, there's no reason to look elsewhere!

Maybe, or maybe not. Have you found something more recent that would prove that 7zip is not the best any more?
