Wireless Headphone Connection Problem.

I have read this:
http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3571268/wireless-headphones-connection.html
But it didn't resolve my problem.

I have a TX9 Pro Android TV box connected to my TV via an HDMI cable.

I tried to connect my Sony wireless headphone MDR-RF985R to the TV, no sound. Then I connected the headphone to the SPDIF port on the Android TV box, no sound either.

Helpstar says "change audio device in it to your headphone if possible", but I couldn't figure out how to change audio device in the box....

I know the headphone is in perfect working condition.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply Helpstar!

I did follow the instructions in the headphone manual, tried both 3A and 3B methods. Neither worked.
I suspect that the audio signals were actually in the Android box but not in the TV...reasoning being I had no problem before when I had a regular TV box that connected to the TV via a coaxial cable; problem only occurred after I swapped to the Android box.

I am using an LG 47" 3D TV model 47CM565... sorry I don't know what "headphone (3.5" jack) connections" is.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Without a digital to analogue converter, you can´t connect the headphone to the android box or the TV directly. Both are using digital audio outputs.
You will need something which converts the spdif signal (coax 3.5 to coax cinch) from the box or the optical toslink audio out from your TV:

this cable for the TV to the converter

and from the converter to the headphone with cinch to cinch stereo

or

if you wanna connect the converter to the android box (optional), you would need something like this, but in that case I´m not 100% sure if this cable would be the correct one:

Thanks again for the help.
It is still not quite clear to me though...I used this headphone on another smaller 43" TV, also made by LG, and never had any problem. Was that TV using analogous audio output? What confused me more is that after having this smaller TV connected to the Android TV box, the headphone stopped working. (I had cable TV box that hooks up to the TV via coaxial cable when the headphone was working.)

Anyway, I'm going to give it a shot, to buy the converter and the cable you recommended...possibly from Best Buy so that if they don't work I can easily return to the store.

Cheers

I don't have the model number handy, it was given to my parents-in-law....but both TVs are 7-8 years old.

Again, what puzzled me was that when I had the cable TV box hooked up to the TV, the headphone worked just fine; now after swapped the cable TV box with the Android box, the headphone stopped working.

Should I connect my headphone to the TV or the Android box? which has only an SPDIF port that looks like a regular hole in your cell phone where you insert your earbuds....

Cheers
