wireless keeps turning off

I have toshiba satelite L655. Ive noticed similar threads but my problem is little different i constantly running scans and updates and restarting system as directed. I dont use ether cord i run off wireless with my friend, so i dont have adapter access and hate bothering friend, but my wireless isnt connected i have win 7 but i see a square with red x and only thing i find working is keep factory setting i dont like to keep resorting to that,and sometimes i have to do it 3-4 times like this last time. Any suggestions

I would look for an updated wifi driver for the laptop. Also, make sure all the updates are installed.

You simply may have a range issue and be too far from the router.
