We are kind of in the same situation. We have older technology that we would like to keep: JVC 200 disc CD player and Pioneer amp/receiver. The amp has a headphone jack, but it's the larger size - not the 3.5mm or 1/8" connection. We would like to get rid of the larger speakers and get some wireless speakers around the house. We were thinking bluetooth but when we spoke to a guy at Best Buy, he tried to convince us to change everything to Wi-Fi technology - that would be too expensive for us at this time. Suggestions? Is there some kind of connector/adaptor that changes from the large size headphone jack to obtain the female end for the 3.5mm transmitter?

If your goal is to play only CD on the BT speakers you don't need the receiver at all. You can connect a BT transmitter directly to the RCA outputs of the CD. If you did want other sources then check to see if your receiver has tape record outputs on the back. You could connect the transmitter here. Worse case you can get a 1/4 stereo phone plug to 2 RCA cable to use the headphone out.

Problem will be if you want to use multiple speakers. Most BT transmitters will only connect with one device. Here is one that connects to two

Don't think there are any that pair with more so you would be limited to two pairs or two speakers.

We plan on keeping receiver/tuner. As far as finding 3.5mm slots which it seems the BT transmitter needs, there's a Compulink-3 (Synchro) at rear of the JVC CD player, or there's another 3.5mm slot on the Pioneer tuner at the rear that says OUT - Control.
Would either one of these work to connect the transmitter to? The only headphone jack is on the front of the receiver and it's a much larger size.
