I have a Pioneer VSX-322 and the surround back speakers are connected from the Pre Out connections to the AUX input on a Mitsubishi M-P04 Pre Amp which is then connected to a Mitsubishi M-A04 Power Amp. The speakers are then connected to the Power Amp. This works fine.
However, I have an inexpensive wireless AV transmitter/receiver set which I would like to use for the SB speakers but if I connect the transmitter to the Pre Outs on the Pioneer and the receiver to the AUX input on the Pre Amp I just get a very loud hum from the speakers.
I know that the wireless set works OK because if I connect the transmitter to the AV outputs on my set-top box the audio comes out of the speakers just fine.
I'm sure that there is a very good explanation as to why this won't work. Could you please advise?

Solution
OK..... let me figure this out, the Audio Surround Back Pre Out RCA sockets are giving out too much power to the Wireless AV transmitter.... thus the Humm.... you need to get the Voltage down to 2.5mV from 1V....
Actually my mistake since you're using the AUX input on the Mitsu Preamp the input sensitivity for those are 2.5mV... so lets look for a product that does that, or then we'll have to do it with a DIY circuit....

Well, for some reason this morning, the hum has gone to be replaced by very low audio from the source and a LOT of 'white noise'.

If I use a cable connection from the receiver to the PreAmp and then put the wireless set between the PreAmp and the PowerAmp, is that likely to work?

Can we look at this whole setup in a different way....
Let me see if I understand the concept of what you are trying to accomplish , correctly...ok?
You have a set of speakers lying around, you have an Amp and a Pre Amp (M-P04 Pre Amp & M-A04) with it to power them....
You have a source output the Pioneer AV rec..... (Surround )
Now , you don't want cable clutter between the AV Rec and the Surround Speakers which you plan to put at the back or sides of the room? but you want to Wireless'ly send the signal to those two rear surround speakers right? which inturn are being powered by the Mitsu Pre-amp and amp.... right which, I guess you have also planned on placing closer to the rear surround speakers which is across the room from the AV receiver... right?

That is correct. We can leave the PreAmp out of the equation if you like. I only have it there to give me better volume control over the speakers.

The only thing that I changed this morning was to plug some of the items into different power outlets

Ok.... I want you to try this...
Plug the Wireless receiver or connect the wireless receiver into the Mitsu Amp's Line In......That is the Wireless Receivers output connects to the M-A04's Line IN....

Leave the Wireless Transmitter connected to the Surround Outputs of the Pioneer AV Receiver....
Share the result... Pls..
