You wouldn't happen to still have the CD, would you? I have combed over
mine pretty closely and not found a WMP installation file. I'm
wondering if you can locate it on yours and tell me the path to it
because I cannot find it.

"player" is the filename... (extensions don't show in file explorer)

Again, my mistake! Thanks for sticking with me on this. I've checked
again, and there's no file in the Windows dir called "player." However,
there is a gif image called "winmedia." I opened it and it looks like
what would be the shortcut in the start menu for WMP. Considering I
reformatted recently, I am hopeful that perhaps this darn thing is on
here somewhere (although I'd be even more confused if that were the
case since I would then wonder why I can't update to newer versions,
etc).

Anywhere else this thing could possibly be located?

Yeah, I've scoured the device for any sign of this software besides the
icon and it's just not there. oh well.

While browsing file explorer, look for the wmp icon... sounds like it's
not there, but, if it is, will display the wmp icon.
