I've been training people for over 20 years; here's the secret exercise program I prescribe to my clients to loosing weight. You need to do less of one exercise and more of another:

Less: Fork Lifts
More: Table Pushaways

No exercise required,....

You want to improve cardio vascular health,.... get off your @## and get your heart beating,..... Every Day!

You want to get bigger/stronger:

Lift something really heavy (for you),..... REPEAT!! As you get stronger, lift something heavier, REPEAT.

There, the secret is out.

yeah, good on her, BUT it's easier for Fat people to lose weight, a good quote being:

"your body wants to be healthy, all you need to do is give it a chance"

I'd say eating healthy was responsible for a majority of this.

also i've heard of people having as much success dancing around a clothesline, so lets not chuck out the gym membership for a wii fit just yet...

Look I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of the negative comments about the Wii being a primary factor in this. The hardest part of losing weight is the psychological element. Doing gym exercise isn't hard its finding the motivation keep going that is. The Wii provides an entertaining and fun experience in the privacy of ones own home. It is not a treadmill its a game console, probably something you can look forward to. Most of the people who fail to keep up with their exercise plans dread going to the gym or running outside.

The Wii may help some people get over one of the biggest hurdles people who are trying to lose weight have, motivation to exercise. And wouldn't be surprised if more stories like this pop up in the future.

I'm going to add that exercise even light exercise releases endorphins and relieves stress which actually helps fight emotional eating and feelings of depression. So just using the Wii fit regularly can help people stick to a healthy diet.

I hope to see more devices like the Wii in the future something for World of Warcraft even, because we all know there are people stuck in Azeroth who could use some exercise.

It's not amazing she lost the weight but it's a good thing still.

To all the people saying it's mostly the diet they are wrong. yes diet is a big part of it but activity is still necessary. The person that said one needs to balance calorie intake with calorie output you are the correct. If someone only eats a little salad a day and does nothing but sit on their ass they will stay fat and probably even gain a few pounds. Your body is still a machine if you don't burn the calories you take in your body will store them as fat, Plain and simple. Even if you don't eat very healthy you will still lose weight if you expend more calories than you take in, you might not be very healthy but you will lose weight.

You don't necessarily have to go to a gym and work out for it to be considered exercise, taking the stairs instead of the elevator counts. Everybody tries to make weight loss more complex than it has to be, it's simple, expend more energy than you take in. Of course you wanna lose fat weight instead of muscle weight, but there's an easy way to acomplish that.

she is still ugly, lol. maybe she had the gastro surgery, there is no way she did that on her own and only the wii, it's impossible.

She didn't only use the wii as you've suggested. It states quite clearly in the article that she balanced the morning work outs with a good diet.
It seems the benefits of a well balanced diet really is lost to the people of this generation, as is reading comprehension.

Sure the health diet helped but not 90%, more like 60%. Reality is that loosing weight is psychological based on motivation. Try choosing between going to a Gym or "Playing" with a Video game console at home, what does motivates you more? Why we all want to be on Top in a video Game let say CoD, who doesn't want to be on top? The WiiFit motivates lazy people much more of all of you think because it is a video game.Yes going to a gym will burn more calories but for how long? We can play video games for 5Hrs+ addicted but I'm pretty sure these fat people wont be able to handle that much time at a Gym.

It is that simple, the time we spend playing a video game is 10x more that the time we spend at the Gym especially when a Video Game is much more entertaining and motivating than going to a Gym.

What a lot of people ignore is the effect that exercise has on your mind, and how that enables better habits. When you exercise more, you have better circulation and your frontal lobe becomes more effective (this has been proven with multiple studies). When your frontal lobe does more of the thinking, you have an easier time turning away from 'impulsive' habits like eating junk food (also demonstrated in several studies). So, once you kick start yourself with more exercise, correcting the diet becomes easier and the weight loss can really accelerate. Diet and exercise go hand in hand, it is possible to lose weight without one or the other but it is so so so much harder.

One hour Wii Fit each day, eating healthier and Motivation. Did start summer 2009 dropped from 288 pounds to 94 pounds. Wii fit work.
