Kind of gives a new meaning to "taste in music". I've never experienced that,
but I have experienced music that stinks.

I've read that Bruce Swedien and Quincy Jones share this condition as
well. There are some *interesting* web sites out there on the subject.

He was a famous sci-fi writer. More movies are probably made from his
writings than about any other (including "Blade Runner", "Total Recall",
"Minority Report").

I seem to remember reading one of his books that described an artist
"playing" a concert using sound, light, and, I think, taste and many other
senses. Basically the next step from a multimedia presentation. Except I
think the performer and audience were totally off their heads on
psychedelics.

Yeah I guess my mind went right to the gutter (too much time in this
forum), I made the mortal error of not doing the google search...

Science fiction is not too much my thing, so I apologize for lack of
knowledge. I have read a lot of Vonnegut, some Clark, and Asimov (when
will they make the Foundation Trilogy into movies?)
I more enjoy Steinbeck, Dickens, Hemingway, Conrad etc. Cheers.

That is a condition known as synesthesia. If you find it interesting,
I can recommend "The Man Who Tasted Shapes" as good fun read on the
subject.

I recall seeing Trey Anastasio from Phish on the Charlie Rose show,
recalling his most memorable experience on stage. He had done a bunch
of acid or something and was seeing the notes he played as huge pure
colored lights that towered above the audience and changed incredibly
with their reactions to his playing.
Wowzers
I would agree a tritone/aug 4th/dim5th probably taste pretty bad.

You should get out more, read more... Grow up more... Whatever.

Google will tell you all you need/ want to know about the above-mentioned
seminal latter 20th century science and techincal fiction writer. You;ve
seen films based LOOSLEY on several of his books, one coming up this year
may well be the FIRST to nail his approach and philosophy for the first
time.

In my Biology class we where talking about what Acid does to you and
basically it confuses your neurological signals. What inputs to your brain.
So you can feel colors, hear smells, smell what you would normally touch,
etc.. Its never a guarentee to work that way, but its been known to
happen on many occasions and has been experimented with in a controlled
setting.

I was amazed just to hear about it.

For many folks acid's not required; when I first started playing guitar, at
age nine, I heard the subdominant chord as warmer in temperature than the
others. Dominant 7 had a slightly hooked shape. Etc.

as Rob rightly pointed out this condition is called synesthesia.
basically the senses taste, sight, hearing etc. become confused with
eachother. the painter Kandinsky suffered from this condition, for him
it manifested in him hearing the colours on the panitings he painted,
this was long before he could have contemplated an acid trip!

Great song too.
