Yep, your laptop is more then able to run word processing.

I recommend WPS Office Free Edition. It's identical to Microsoft Office in it's UI but it's free. You can also save and read Microsoft office documents/spreadsheets via WPS if you want/need to.

I just asked on my own thread since I'm an openoffice user and Libraoffice is the new Openoffice. Many open office developers are working on Libraoffice now. SO I guess it's a choice between that and WSA.
