Is it worth replacing 30 year old RG59 coaxial cable with new RG6 coaxial cable? The cable being replaced connects from my cable box to the splitter on the outside of my house. I can get a 100ft roll of RG6 coaxial cable for $12 including shipping on ebay. Also is it possible to install F connectors without the compression tool?

All cable companies use RG6 as their standard because it has wider bandwidth and less loss than brand new RG59. A 30 year old cable has aged enough to lose some signal too. Replacing it would be a good idea. The way the F connector is installed on the cable does make a difference with digital cable systems so it should be done correctly. This video might be helpful
