Would the HP ENVY 15-ae011na Laptop be suitable as a gaming laptop? (For games like ARK)

My current laptop is nearing 5/6 years old and I'm looking to get a newer one.

caught my eye, within a £1,000 budget, but is it suitable for use for gaming? Current laptop refuses to load/play ARK at more than 5 fps...

940m is kind of weak. I'm not familiar with the brand, but this has a 960M for GBP1000, which is a lot more powerful:

It should be able to play the game but there are better laptops in this price range. You should be looking at a laptop with at least a gtx 860m or 960m.
