Write protected

Hello,
I have an Acer laptop and am working from a memory stick and also SD cards. I am suddenly getting the message Write Protected and unable to copy from one to the other. Please help on how to remove this "Write Protected"

SD cards have a little latch on the side. Move it to the other side to turn it off.
