[citation][nom]zoemayne[/nom]nothing new about wireless charging but since apples doing it its "revolutionary"[/citation]

Stop being a hater. No one nowhere said anything about it being revolutionary.

I see this as a natural progression of apple with the iOS 5 suppose to be PC free, there's no need to connect to the computer anymore.

No need to connect = no need for a cable, except to charge. Now if they go wireless power then they can eliminate the connector port entirely.

This is really screw up jail breaking the device since now they will remove any access to the hardware, without having to open the device.

Apple charger will charge world wide where ever you are you wont be able to escape it. The power stations will also emit a brainwashing signal as well.

[citation][nom]mchuf[/nom]It will be "revolutionary" because it will be an Apple exclusive device that will cost an "arm and a leg"![/citation]

Only if you're not living in China....

Over there it will cost you a kidney... The Chinese government already has dibs on all arms and legs...

[citation][nom]Pyree[/nom]I thought it would be running from the spiritual power radiating from Steve Jobs. I am utterly disappointed![/citation]

rofl, you sir have made my day

wireless charging may seem cool but it uses multiple times more power and charges slower.

and some chargers do not turn off meaning when plugged in they are using their full power draw 100% of the time.

(not sure if the quality ones do that, but the addon ones tend to do that)

wireless charging is just not up to the task yet.

For some quality ones, (at least for chargers for wiimotes) will use magnets in the charger and/or the battery cover to turn the charger on and off (or at least in low power mode).

For example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUU4AsxaY6s

Would not surprise me if they do something close to this. but i agree, i dont think wireless charging is here just yet....

Where do these people get their information? Apple does not intentionally leak information about unreleased products to anyone. Ever. The only people at Apple that leak info about unreleased products are those that are about to get fired for something they weren't supposed to do in the first place.

I love all the negative comments... How about an Android phone with wireless charging first? LOL... Give credit where it's due instead of the trolling...

This is one of the worst titles for an article I've seen... ever.

98% of the article has NOTHING to do with the charging. Then right at the end, the last line and a half finally mentions it, but provide nothing but speculation about what Apple MIGHT be doing.

Marcus, Marcus, Marcus. For shame.

"Apple is experimenting with new ways of charging the phone. Perhaps it will be a wireless charging method similar to the HP Palm Pre's Touchstone charger."

HP better sue the F*#K out of apple for being "like them"

[citation][nom]nukemaster[/nom]So true. It has been out for a while....Hell its almost the same as the way many electric toothbrushes charge...[/citation]

I thought electric toothbrushes charged inductively, basically an oddly shaped, two separate piece, transformer

How will they sync songs/movies/pictures/etc? If they lose the connector, they'll have to assume everyone has a wireless router. I suppose they're snotty enough to do it, though.

[citation][nom]TunaSoda[/nom]Cool or not, it's still a damn unreplacable battery[/citation]

You CAN removed the battery...

Take the two screws out on the bottom... push the back panel up and off... use the pull tab to remove the battery. DONE! A new one is $25... search ifixit for the guide.

[citation][nom]kentlowt[/nom]Just a curious question because I don't know the answer. What other electronic products out there use wireless charging currently?[/citation]
Electric toothbrushes, other phones,

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]Electric toothbrushes, other phones,[/citation]
There's not a single electric toothbrush or phone that uses wireless charging. The two biggest electric toothbrush makers Phllips and Oral-B don't use wireless charging. No cell phones of any kind use wireless charging. All of these devices come with a cable in the box that connects the device to a wall outlet.
