[citation][nom]bourgeoisdude[/nom]6. Haven't had to replace the batteries in my wireless controller yet, using the non-rechargeable kind (granted I don't use the wireless controller unless a friend comes over).[/citation]

About the batteries. NEVER buy the microsoft batteries they're just bad normal rechargable NiMH i think 2100 milliamps. I thought they were a Li-polymer type. Cheaper to just buy low self-discharge regular rechargeables like the hybrids from rayovac. They seem to last much longeron a charge.

[citation][nom]renniz[/nom]First you purchase the console. Second you purchase an additional controller. Third you purchase the wi-fi adapter. Fourth you purchase an Xbox Live Gold account. Fifth you purchase games at $59.95 or less. Sixth you purchase two rechargeable battery packs and a charger. Finally you enjoy your $249 - $399 system.[/citation]

All of the additional purchases you mentioned are optional.

Hmm...
$300 for the system + a single controller controller.
$50 for an additional controller.
$30x2 for two rechargeable battery packs.
$60x20 for games.
$0 for 1 month of xbox live gold (they repaired my RRoD for free, and even gave me 1 month gold card).
=$1610
I think I should stick with PC gaming... the games are a lot cheaper if you're willing to care and share.

=D

What system comes with two controllers? Second who buys the battery packs when you can use any AA rechargeables that you can get at Wal-Mart for $5? Also the systems comes with two games now so you don't have to buy any games right off the back. On top of that it's not like any other system is offering games for free. Plus I am happy to pay the extra $4 a month for the online experience of Xbox LIVE.

How much did your gaming rig cost? Did it come with two controllers? Not every online game for PC is free either (lots of people pay for WOW) and Steam is bloatware and nowhere near as streamlined. $30 for rechargeable batteries? I bought mine for $4.99 and I use rechargeables in my PC gaming mouse also. PC games aren't free and you brag that you are stealing... WOW! There are people modding and stealing on Xbox 360 also.

I love that there are people here that factor in the cost of all the option crap they would buy with their system.

So to continue on that stupid bandwagon -
$500.00 Sony PS3 160 GB
$ 25.00 Sony Blu-Ray Remote
$ 55.00 2nd Controller
$ 60.00 Sony HDMI Cable for PS3
$ 25.00 Battery/Charger Pack for PS3
$120.00 2 x Games for PS3
------------------
$785.00
+ $1800.00 for a new Sony Bravia 46" 1080p/240hz LCD

Comes to a grand total of $2585.00

Gee my XBOX 360 looks better and better already.

You should pay more attention to whats in the bundle. The Pro model has been coming with a Wifi adapter for over a year.. Also came with a Silver Live subscription.. I had it just long enough to figure out I dont need it.. And I bought a second controller, but this one is wired. I use it on my PC and 360. But thanks, I am thoroughly enjoying this system I paid $315 for.. How much is that PS3, btw?

[citation][nom]tsiberious[/nom]This is tempting. I have an old pro right now without HDMI and the 20GB HDD.Anybody know if it is easy to upgrade consoles (transferring all dlc, etc...)?[/citation]

Wasn't there some sort of HDD transfer cable that came into existance when MS first offered the bigger HDD's for sale?

This is the transfer Kit information:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/datamigration.htm

Now the real question would be, how does one go about getting the kit? That I can't help you with 😛

Hmm, apparantly the above URL link didn't work.

Go to xbox.com and search for: "data migration", the first hit you get will be "Xbox 360 Hard-Drive Transfer Kit", it gives you all the details about this mysterious device.

Bought my PS3 for 250. Don't need a remote control as the controller works fine. Bought a 10 dollar HDMI cable from monoprice.com. PS3 needs no battery pack, you moron. Oh I forgot, I am enjoying my Blu-ray and netbrowsing on my 110 inch projector thoroughly. How much would you have to pay for both of that on an xbox360? ...huh.. you can't.

I swear playstation fanboys are the worst. Just because you paid $500 for a $100 BR dvd and a ps2 emulator that supports upscaling to 1080p doesnt give you braging rights. Go find a PS3 thread to banter on. I tell you what, when you can buy 100 games for the PS3 that aren't also made for the PS2/xbox that are worth a crap then the ps3 might be worth $300.

My PS3 came with 2 controllers , a bluray movie , an HDMI cable, 40GB for $367 brand new.

Oh and using AA batteries is such a pain in the a$$, even the rechargables (which btw are not for $5) , as if i dont have a sh*tload of other things to charge. (ie cellphone, archos (video player) , ipod ,camera...the list goes on) Worrying about charging my controllers is the last thing i wanna do. Srsly i never knew that xbox controllers can't be charged without buying sep. battery packs. lol thatz pretty sad. Similar to the Wii. (i have a Wii btw) Pathetic and stupid.

Plz dont compare consoles to PC, my pc can crush, burn, demolish and gobble both the xbox and ps3 at once. I won't consider Wii, since my parent's old pentium III is enough to give the Wii a run for its $$$.

If u do for some retarded reason buy the ps3 for $500 it DOES come with both a bluray remote control a sep controller AND two games. and no we dont need a battery charger , unlike the xbox ps3 can be charged with the provided USB cable w/o the extra battery charger.

oh and some1 mentioned how XBL is OPTIONAL ? so does that mean we can play online for free ? i guess not. this was the biggest factor for me in deciding which console to choose.
