Imagine that. Developers are trying to reach the broadest audience possible. Hmmmm do you expect anything different? Game devs don't make games to please any certain part of the market. They make games to turn a profit. If you want devs to develop more graphically intensive games, you have to increase the number of high-performance computers in the market.

You guys are hopeless. You think game devs are holding back pc gaming by not developing graphically intensive games? The only objective of a developer (or any business) is to make money. Pc gaming is holding itself back by not being the "popular" option among consumers.

Anyone who thinks PC gaming will die is retarded. There will always be PC gaming. It might be a console port, but it will exist. It's not like computers will cease to exist. There are more computers in households than consoles. Computers can do things that consoles never will. At worst, consoles will become more like computers, and the line will be blurred to the point that consoles will be considered dead as they continue to evolve into something more than just a machine that plays games.

I'll take a console ( Yes even a 360 ) over a PC when it comes to gameing any day of the week. Pc's stink when it comes to games, you always have driver issues and memory crashes and Hard Drive pauses durring game play. You have to configure every game you buy and sometimes you end up with $ 50.00 games that you can't get to work on your system. Pc's are great for surfin the web and doing office work but that's as far as it goes. Plus everytime you buy a game for your PC you have to go online and register it and enter the code on the sleeve. Yadda yadda yadda, get real.

As of today ive had my 360 for 4 years and 2 days and ive even moddeed it, opened it tens of times, abused it, traveled with it and anythign else I shouldnt ( like my original Xbox ) and yet it still works just like the first one. Call me lucky but thats not unreliable to me

consoles have killed development of games. their limited ability is ported directly to the PC and the only time high end hardware gets to work up a sweat is if it is such a bad port, the PC struggles to make it work properly. i understand why they develop for console first as they have millions of matching hardware platforms so getting it right isn't as challenging as trying to support the infinite hardware configurations of a gaming PC. anymore (with the exception of what can be counted on your 2 hands) gaming on a PC is essentially gaming on a console with a keyboard. very sad fate for games and very sad to see innovation stifled to cater to an aged platform.

I love how these posts devolve into fights about the best console. Invariably some fanboy has to bring up rrod's and how pc's are the best, etc., etc.

It seems that half of the people in here are either too young or have conveniently forgotten how unreliable the NES was. We all had one and we all loved it, DESPITE the fact that you were lucky if the thing lasted 2 years. There's a reason everyone laughs when we see pictures of people blowing steamy breath into a game cartridge (inevitably making the problem worse) - yet we all did it!

BTW: i'm an xbox gamer and a pc gamer. they are two different experiences, both with pros and cons.

Even though its 4 generations behind the PC or 5 in case of mine. Its still the cheapest way for the mainstream people to get their kids the games that are popular and marketing to them. I have a PS3 yet my high end quad core beast with 2 x 5870 DX11 cards eats it for breakfast all day long. Its still a kick ass console does what it does. But the 720p games its plays even upconverted games at 1080 doesnt compare to my beast of a PC running on a 30 inch panel at 2560 x 1600 res all high settings its beyond full HD. Its cost and marketing. Not everyone can pay $400- $600 for one part to game on the PC. I kind of like that, I dont want something everyone has or is capable of putting together or even can afford. worthless post. all you did was brag about your pc. its a known fact that you can get better visuals with a pc. your post just makes the truth more known: pc gamers are getting to be very few and far between.

and by the way, it's not even that expensive to get better visuals on a recent hp or dell or whatever. As long as you have a decent dual core(preferably quad), you can spend $200 and drop a 4890 into your already existing machine. That's a lot cheaper than buying a 360/ps3 if you count all of the other little things that will have to be bought (services, controllers, games are more expensive)

So if you can get better visuals on a pc, and be cheaper than a console, then why are consoles the more popular option? Something about consoles has to be more appealing than pc gaming...

The age of the consoles is directly affecting poor PC game production. Advances are not being made, simply because the product needs to work with the Consoles ancient specs. Until we have new consoles to help push the envelope or the gaming industry starts taking computers seriously again nothing will change.

Let's keep the "begging the question" theme going... Maybe the fact that you don't have to be an uberdork to build a PC, wait 2 minutes each time it boots, and rig it to your TV with a controller and a keyboard/mouse hiding somewhere just to play some games? And then, jump through five more hoops to have any sort of online play? Instead, maybe the Xbox hides inside a TV cabinet and dutifully provides an incredibly easy to use game and media interface?

Nah, that's not it.
