Xbox Media Remote and XBMC

I have a Xbox 360 Media Remote (the newer black one) that I want to use with XBMC. I've looked around and didn't really find anything useful. Some said that it could work with the right IR receiver. My questions is, can I use the IR receiver built into my TV? When I use XBMC I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI and I thought I could somehow use the IR from the TV to work with XBMC. Is this at all possible? Also I hope this is the right category to post in, I really have no idea where to put this.

It's not possible by any method that I know of. The IR receiver needs to be connected to the laptop (as XBMC runs on the laptop). I don't know what is meant by "the right IR receiver". Unfortunately, all of my searching seems to point at it working with Vista Media Center and not XBMC.
