Xiaomi Redmi K90 on T Mobile

Hello all -

I was recently given a Xiaomi Redmi K90 as a gift.

Background: I spend time in both the USA and China. This is a dual SIM phone and I have both a USA T Mobile and China Unicom Sim.

For the China Unicom SIM, all seems well. However, for the T Mobile SIM, I am experiencing problems with incoming txt messages. I have verified I am not receiving some / many inbound txt messages to USA number. This is true whether I am in the USA or in China.

I checked the obvious items - APN stuff, supported frequencies, etc. (I have tried several different APN's)

The T mobile site DOES say the IMEI is not compatible with their network, but I can not deduce what the technical reason is.

I have spot checked the frequencies T Mobile uses versus that of the Redmi K90, and at first look, all does seem OK.

The unit DOES connect to the T Mobile network without issue, makes and receives calls, and is providing LTE and 5G data.

I am also able to send outbound TXT messages without issue. The singular issue is inbound SMS and MMS messages.

As this was a gift, I am trying to "give it a good try" to make it work, before I tell my friend that I have to give up on the phone.

Does anyone have any advice for additional trouble shooting or suggested work arounds?

As I stated, I am trying to give it a "good effort" to make it work before I give up.

Many thanks in advance!
