yamaha rx-381 receiver, no sound dvd player

have a 4g ultra hd tv and yamaha rx-381 4g ultra hd receiver. have hdmi cable run from tv to receiver. when playing dvd, i have no sound.

Do you have ARC, audio return enabled, if they both support it. And where is the DVD player hooked up to?
