Solved! Yamaha TSR-7850 pass through issue

I have a DirecTv genie proving input via hdmi to the AV Recvr. With the AV on, sound and video flows thru to the tv. If I turn the AV off, the pass through works and I still get DTV on the tv for as long as I have DTV on and watching. If I now turn off DTV and turn it back on 10 minutes later. Pass thru does not work. I have to cycle the AV on and off again. Any ideas to keep the pass thru open?

Can you leave the DTV receiver on?
If there is a way to turn off CEC in the DTV or receiver try that.

CEC was already off on the receiver. DTV had it on and I turned it off. Didn't make a difference. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I found the issue. Pass through had to be set to ON, not AUTO. Things work fine now

I'm having the exact same problem with the TSR 7850. How do you turn pass through on?

Settings video/HDMI HDMI standby through set to on. Just be sure to set your HDMI input on the receiver to DirecTv and it should be good from that point on, even in stanbdy mode.

Thank you! I apologize for not being well educated on this topic as I just picked up the hobby. If I follow your instructions then i should be able to watch TV by just turning on direct tv/my TV and not have to turn on the actual receiver so regular tv wont have to use surround sound of the subwoofer?
