Remember when you were a little kid.. On previous Yamaha AVR's// You'de select HDMI whatever to watch/listen to your CBL/SAT .... Then during commercials you would select CD Input to play some jams while still watching the commercials in the background... WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT??
How can we bring this back on the YSP-5600???

Right now currently.. switching to an audio input. Also stops previous video frompassing thru...
so i'm left watching a black screen on my tv.
LAAAAAAAME!!!
anyone know an up-up-down-down; code to bypass this flaw??

Solution
On a real surround receiver you might be able to assign an HDMI connection for video and an analog input as the audio for one input and switch between HDMI doing both AV and HDMI for video only. On a soundbar you are asking for too much.
You could use an HDMI distribution amp to split the HDMI output of the cable box. One HDMI to the TV directly and the other to the soundbar. That would get you a picture with CD sound.
