This isn't anything new about Apple, the company has a history of design flaws. Glass broke in those small computers that used to be popular, and the White Iphones were discolored from overheating, the "home buttons" pop off, their IPS "cinema-display" had pinkish whites, the iPod wheel would break apart.

I have a 3G S, I totally babied it, screen protector and case. I took off the case after about 6 months of use, and the black plastic finish was all scuffed up, same thing with my fathers iphone. With the new iPhone, I'm not surprised that the glass would get cracked.

Once people get back into reality and see through the marketing, Apple really is a inexperienced, novice company. Just think if you never saw a Apple advertisement, or heard Apple rumors.

You would just see the small hippie brand making the same original product, with a few outdated features, updated every year.

You're full of sh%t. I have 4 iPhones. Two new 4's and 2 3G's. Used the 3G's for 2 years before giving them to my kids for playing games and music. They are 4 & 7 years old and they do not baby their iPhones. The other day I took of the cases and cleaned them up and they are still in great condition.

Between friends and co-workers I know at least 30 people with the iPhone 4, all of them with cases. When I first read this I asked everyone I knew if they had this issue and none of them has. LOL at the quote made earlier about Engadget saying 25% of respondents have this problem. More like the few people who do have the problem are making all the noise (as it is with anything people whine about on the internet).

Hell, if I believed every negative review ever posted online I wouldn't own a single computer, appliance or electronic device.

I wish I could show you the pictures of both the less-than-one year old iphones. You forgot about all the other Apple issues because you were blinded by name brand.

I like how because you have 2 of the new phones that 25% of users can't be reporting this...

I really am loving how the first thing most iPhone uses do are defending the product. It's barely, what, 5 months old? And they're having these problems.

My gf has a 3gs iPhone, my boss at work has one as well. Both complain all the time about problems with this or that, and I ask them what their next phone will be. Oddly enough, both say apple. Weird. I thought when you didn't like a product you waited for it to improve before getting a new one.

Apple fanboy or not, you people shouldn't be so willing to buy these products without looking into the problems or putting at least SOME thought and consideration into your purchases.

[citation][nom]dthx[/nom]Apple clearly choosed for a very appealing design rather than building a solid phone but I don't see how that can be called a design fault. Any buyer looking at an iPhone 4 in a shop has no difficulty to figure out that it is more prone to damage than a thick and ugly water and dust proof phone.I don't think that my HTC desire would come unharmed from a fall on a concrete stairway but I wouldn't blame HTC for that. And, yes, some cases are worse than no case at all, but that's the same for many phone models. I'll stick with my silicone case around my HTC desire. Not the best look, but it absorbs the shocks way better than hard cases and will not scratch the phone (unless some sand finds his way between the case and the phone, so, clean the inside regularly !!!).[/citation]
Yes but an iPhone with a metallic back would be nice and still look slim

Apple should do more robust quality testing of their products rather than rush them out the market. Engineering folks don't succumb to marketing buzzards. They get all the commission, you get all the blame.

Read much? I know almost 30 people with iPhone 4's, BESIDES the two I own and none of them are having any issues. No antenna or dropped calls, no scratched or cracked glass.

My uncle's cousin met a guy who's sister had an iPhone and it had a cracked glass. Therefore, all iPhone 4's will have a cracked glass.

Funny how Apple haters have to label anyone with an Apple product as a blind fanboy. I'm a software engineer and have been working with multiple platforms for years. I'm no fanboy and the only thing Apple I own are my iPhones. It must frustrate you haters when intelligent, informed people make decisions based on fact, and not on what they read from a bunch of whiners on an online forum.

What if people suddenly stopped buying anything Android when those articles floated around a few months back about personal data being mined by apps? Android users said it was blown out of proportion, but using your mentality people should have made an informed decision NOT to buy Android because of this obvious, and very serious flaw. *end sarcasm* cuz I know so many of you won;t get this obvious joke.

Everyone I know with an iPhone 4 is very happy with their purchase. And none of them are fanboys.

Funny that I say to make sure to look into your purchases and the first thing you do is defend this product. I never said don't buy it, did I? I said look into it. Thank you very much for telling me that trying to look into something before you blindly talk about it is a bad idea. I do appreciate your attitude and aggression on the issue :) Very much so appreciated as it pretty well reinforces my point.

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]Y'know, Microsoft, Google, Nokia and Blackberry don't need to try so hard to compete against Apple. They should just sit back and watch the iPhone disintegrate. The iPhone 4 has done more to promote the sales of non-Apple phones than all the combined advertising of the competition put together.[/citation]

Definitely...

You're gonna need it. Too bad "stupid" isn't illegal.

@ericburnby
Unreal Tournament Sound: "Head Shot"
Pwned!!!

Sorry couldn't resist.

[citation][nom]LePhuronn[/nom]Everybody puts out a bad product once in a while - it's just inevitable - but it's how the company deals with the problem that counts. And Apple's arrogance in dealing with the iPhone 4 just makes any flaws with it much more funny (to non-owners) and unfortunate (to owners). What are the chances in Apple refreshing faster than the usual year cycle?[/citation]

Even more interesting is how much faster would the fan base gobble up said "refresh"? Wouldn't doubt if three hour lines came back around.
