The iPad doesn't use OS X does it? I thought it was just the iphone operating thing scaled up.
Further to what a number of other people have said - UK pricing and that in the rest of Europe is never anything like the US pricing for this type of thing. Looking at the apple UK online thing, the cheapest ipad (16gb, no 3g) is £429, the most expensive (32gb, with 3g) is £699. That's not much different - so whilst not outrageous in comparison it's probably still too expensive, especially with netbooks / cheap laptops that float around at below £300 sucking away market leaving just those who want something trendy and applelike even if it's just about useless.
