sooo... how many people do actually get sick from their phones?.. i mean, why should we sterilize our phones, why prevent a problem that doesnt exist

With so vast a number of trendy people these days opting to lick their fingers rather than using paper napkins, this is hardly a surprise. Honestly this trend ranks up there with the iCrapple fad as an indicator of rising mass stupidity.

The toilet handle analogy is always a stupid one. "Public washrooms" are cleaned every day, while cell phones are not. I've heard the same stupid comparison about keyboards, remote controls, and other electronic devices. If you're worried, just clean your cellphone.

Lol, yet I don't get sick when I do these things? Maybe if people turn their blood pressure down from 150+ and learn to just accept bacteria for what they are then you'll stop having health issues.

That alnost like saying I carry a lob of manure (okay, worse than manure)in my pocket and use it all the time to call my friends!

[citation][nom]Silmarunya[/nom]Assuming your girlfriend is a healthy woman with a normal immune system (and I honestly hope so), she'd have very few harmful bacteria, but a ton of healthy one. Not all bacteria are bad, remember?[/citation]
New pick up line? Hey baby let's go share some healthy bacteria *wink* :)

You shouldn't be worried about it too much. The mythbusters already test the bacteria growth on cellphones and compare it with toilet seats, keyboards, money and especially the kitchen sponge. Y'all should be worried with the sponge than you're dirty lil cellphone.
Adam: "Besides, what the heck is you're immune system for anyway?"

Seriously who cares about the whole bacteria are everywhere non sense. So what? They were always there. Its just fear mongering to sell more alcohol based products.

[citation][nom]arterius2[/nom]this is not because cellphones are dirty, its because the people handling them are. well most people are dirty IMO, they don't care about personal hygienes, like taking a shower before going to sleep, or taking the shoes off before entering the house etc. with that said, i keep my cellphone in a nice carrying pouch, wipe it down once a while, had it for over a year and it looks like new.[/citation]

I take a shower after waking up, gets that 8 hour sleep sweat/grease off and everything from the day before. Unless I workout or do something to get "extra" grimy. Then I'll shower the night before and rinse in the morning. Also, how did people get shit cells on their phone?

I watch the animal care techs at our university reach into their pockets and answer the the phone all the time. This while they changing the dirty mouse cages. So they take the trouble to put on gloves and a mask while they handle mice and feces and urine soaked bedding. Then they put that dirty glove on their phone and on their face. This story is no shocker.

If you want truely disgusting, back when I was in college I had a work study at the university library computer lab. One of our tasks was the weekly washing of the keyboards. Every week the mice, keyboards and monitors would be dis-infected. And truthfully, I thought we should have done it more than weekly. We had lots of homeless people come in, caught a few guys wanking it at the computers, one lady crapped herself. Those computers were the height of disgusting.

Great job though, all the girls from the graphical arts or psych departments or any of the other soft majors would always be in there and if they needed help getting their webpage posted on a server or formatting their documents, they had to ask me for help. Sigh, I miss regular female contact.

This i think supports the idea only 1 in 3 people do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom,,, personal hygiene is a definite reason for the bacteria on the cellphone,,if you don't take care of yourself, you're quite likely not to take care of the items you own,, I usually give items i touch on a daily basis a cleaning 1x a week with antibacterial wipes,,

They are worried about bacteria what about cell phones and radiation that maybe gives you brain tumor ?

The E. coli that is in the human gastrointestinal tract is not the media sensationalized strain that is deadly. That would be Escherichia coli O157:H7 which is found in cattle. Fecal coliforms on cell phones is gross, but not really a major public health concern. I love these microbiology related tech stories BTW.

I already know my keyboard is dirtier than my toilet, but I eat over it all the time. No one cares in the end and it boosts your immune system so you get sick less often. It's a win-win situation for people who aren't paranoid about every little thing. You don't have to clean as often and your immune system is on par with superman's.
