Am I the only one who finds it kind of pathetic that such simple, mundane games have such an astounding amount of players?
Not at all, in fact i think its crazy how many people these games have attracted, i also noticed many friends of mine women or men that don't game at all are addicted to zynga facebook games!

While I agree with you I must point out Sims as a perfect example prior to these Myspace/Facebook games as doing the same exact thing. How many years (probably even a decade) has the Sims topped the gaming charts month after month. I have this sick feeling a lot of it has to do with Reality TV's tyranny over programming infecting our daily lives to such pleasurable things as even gaming.

It comes down to time. The learning curve of WOW, Call of Duty, etc etc are way too high and the time needed to actually not be a noob is much too steep for a casual gamer. That is not going to change any time soon as our free time has been declining for many years now. Some people just want to jump in and play a game for 10 or 15 minutes and then move onto something else.

Yeah, my wife is hooked on the Fartville crap, and cant even see it. She stayed up late the other night to harvest crops... "Ive gotta harvest this stuff or it'll die!" And then comes home from work gripping about being tired..........its kinda sad! 🙁

Farmvill will be dead soon. Check out Minecraft.

Anyways, Zynga is such a $hitty company.

You do realize that most of those people play WAY more than 10-15 minutes? These are the new kind of gamers.... and I hate them. I'm also pretty darn sure most of these people are playing this at work...

i'm not worried about games for the 12yr old and under group, eventually they will jump into more advanced games. this is their bicycle and training wheels for the games the rest of us play 😀

will it still be nerdy and geeky to be a gamer in 10 years? i highly doubt it the way schools are trimming sports programs.

52 weeks * 1000 servers = 52 000 servers * 2 years > 100 000 servers... in a few years Zynga will have to buy all CPUs in the world!

Something stinks about the news![citation][nom]Pyroflea[/nom]Am I the only one who finds it kind of pathetic that such simple, mundane games have such an astounding amount of players?[/citation]

Confess your sins firstly! What do you play when you come home?

Probably your wife finds it sexy how the crops grow and grow bigger and bigger! Maybe it's your fault???

Yeah, and what should they play? 203404323 edition of Crapio or Crapdoom? Or Crap-life 3???
Face it people want quick and simple entertainment that does not take away their lives and and savings.

BTW I'm not fan of these games at all. I don't play them.

I know and I've heard of many people who spend loads of hours playing that kind of games. The more simple a game the more it seems more pathetic to spend that amount of time playing it, but still as a friend of mine says "Time wasting maaaaan". There are much better ways of spending our free time and one must think each and every time how to spend that time appropriately.

1000 Servers a week? Anyone heard of virtualization? I somehow don't see them adding 1,000 high end servers a week in reality. Either it's a bunch of low-end cheapies, or the numbers have been inflated a little bit. Farmville and the like aren't exactly supercomputing applications.
