Laura, there may be nothing wrong with what you are doing. It is probably the media that you are using to burn on (type of CD-r). Some disks work with some players, some don't. Its kind of a crap shoot. If the CD you burned worked with your old player and not your new one, I would say that...

When capturing with the Ulead software you can have it break itself into smaller files automatically. The setting is in the configuration menu. Just set it to <2GB, and you should be fine. BTW I've captured up to 12GB before without a problem...Using that same software and OS. Are you using...

most people like the huffy codec. I don't, but I'm a quality snob. Its supposed to be a lossless codec, but I have not liked the results. Maybe I don't know how to tweak the settings correctly, but I find the best results in capturing to avi, and then compressing to MPEG2. Any man can...

Hello folks...I'm pretty new to Video editing, but I have been reading every article I can on the subject. Right now I'm using VirtualDub to capture with my Leadtek winfastTV 2000 XP. When I capture I don't use any compression. I tried capturing in Huffy but the quality degraded too much...

I found what my problem was. My DVD player plays VCD's, but not VCD's that are made from CD-Rs and CD-RWs. However, I checked on the forums and found that there is one type of media that works anyway....muahahahaha The only way France is going in is if we tell them we've discovered truffles...

It turns out that it was my DVD player. It says it plays DVD's but, I tried three different media types and three different formats on each and it didn't help. All three disks worked on my friends DVD player. Let's all settle our political differences with a LAN.

Thanks for the input. I'll try my VCD on my DVD player at work. I have used the same CD-RW in my DVD player before, but it had music on it at the time. I'll try and nail down where my problem is, and post back. Let's all settle our political differences with a LAN.

I am using Ulead studio 6 for capturing. It seems to perform fine, but when I render it to VCD and burn it witht the Ulead software, my DVD player won't recognize anything on the disk. It just continues to search forever. The DVD players says that it reads VCD's. I am burning the movies...
